small world

I usually confine the spiritual stuff to my personal blog, but this is something I think is appropriate to cross post here.

Don Bowen is a software developer whose work has been a benefit to many … thousands, at least, over the years. Formerly employed on identity management systems at Sun, he was recently RIF’d when the company decided to transfer his project to a team in Europe.

A short time later, he discovered he had brain cancer. You can read his whole story here.

It’s routine in these kinds of situations to marvel about how brave someone with Don’s medical problems is, and how we need to keep him in our prayers. It’s another thing when the person requests prayer:

I hate to be a broken record, but I need prayer. Many of you have probably seen that my daughter Megan set up a prayer vigil for me. If you want to sign up and can I would love that, but I understand that even a 5 minute commitment a day is a lot. I also know that you don’t have to sign up for something just to do it. As I said before surgery, it is always helpful for me to know what to pray, so let me tell you a few things you can pray now for me.

We’re with you Brother Don. God be with you.
