More About Me
A little more detail on who I am and where I am in the tech world.
Technology is a second career for me, by choice. Before learning how to pull DRAM or edit files with vi, I spent 12 years as a trial lawyer both in government and private practice. That experience taught me the importance of paying attention to detail, and how to learn most of what I need to know from self-study. The practice became my life. As one of my mentors used to say, “the law is a jealous mistress”. But I began to wonder if there might not be something better out there. The search for that “something” eventually led me into information technology, a field I’d worked around the periphery of for almost a decade.
Leading up to the Y2K “transition”, I worked mostly in desktop support and engineering. Clearing that milestone, I got involved with directory services and identity management, which has now become my main area of expertise.
In addition to some vendor certifications and my law degree, I’ve also done graduate work in history — for the non-digital side of my brain.
